Maxine Gaylor

Director


Maxine Gaylor joined Niagara Children’s Centre’s board in 2010 and served as Vice-Chair, until becoming Chair in 2015. She has previously served as Secretary.  Maxine is a resident of Welland.

Maxine recently retired from her part-time as a Faculty Advisor for Brock University in the Department of Teacher Education.  Maxine is a retired teacher and elementary school principal for the District School Board of Niagara, with 33 years experience in the education system.  Seven of these years were spent as a Principal of two schools, both in areas of high needs.  Maxine also taught Special Needs students for several years and has always been an advocate for integrated education for all students.  After retirement, Maxine also worked as a volunteer coordinator and public education officer for Women’s Place of South Niagara(Shelter for Abused Women and Children).

Maxine has chaired many Board committees and Women’s Federation committees.    She was previously a member and chair of the Niagara Women in Crisis Board which ran Nova House in Niagara Falls (a shelter for abused women and children).  Maxine spent 9 years as a member of the Pelham Library Board until a recent relocation to the Welland area.  She is an active volunteer in the Pelham community.

Maxine is the proud mother of 2, grandmother of 3, and great grandmother of 5.
