Orthodox New Year
Orthodox New Year, celebrated on January 14, marks the beginning of the new year according to the Julian calendar. Known as the "Old New Year," this day is observed by many Orthodox Christians, especially in Eastern Europe and Russia, as a cultural and religious holiday. Traditions include attending church services, sharing festive meals, and celebrating with family and friends. In some regions, traditional songs, dances, and customs such as symbolic feasts or sprinkling wheat for prosperity are observed to welcome the year with blessings, health, and good fortune. Orthodox New Year offers a reflective start, blending faith with cultural heritage.
