The Board Certified Behavior
Analyst (BCBA) at Niagara Children's Centre will work closely with children and
youth with neurodiversity. Reporting to the Manager, Clinical Services the BCBA
will be responsible to conduct assessments and develop, implement and monitor
individualized behavior intervention plans. A variety of tools and techniques will be used
including observation and interviews with family to identify areas of concern
and develop a plan to address and support behavior needs. This role will work
collaboratively with other health professionals including Social Work,
Occupational Therapists and Speech Language Pathologists.

Key responsibilities
include:
Assessment
- Knowledge
of a variety of tools such as functional behavior assessments, direct
observation and interviews when conducting assessments
- Conduct comprehensive behavior assessments to understand each
child/youth unique needs
Intervention
- Design
and implement individual behavior intervention plans based on best
practices in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
- Implement and apply a variety of techniques using a strength based
approach to goal setting based on the child/youth individual assessment
- Monitor and evaluate progress of child/youth, making necessary
adjustments to the behavior intervention plan as needed.
- Enhance skill development in children/youth to allow for
participation in meaningful activities utilizing naturalistic play- based
strategies.
- Provide training to parents/caregivers to support the
implementation of behavior strategies at home
Evidence Based Practice and Knowledge Transfer
- Stay
current with research and trends in ABA and neurodiversity to inform
practices.
- Provide consultation supports and act as a resource to therapists
who are providing therapy.
- Provide professional development skill building to support
clinicians who may be experiencing difficulty managing behaviors when
providing therapy
Documentation
- Maintain
accurate documentation of assessments, progress notes, and treatment
plans.
- Maintain
daily/regular documentation within the Centre’s Client Information System
in accordance with the college of BCBAs guidelines such as intervention
notes, consultation notes, and assessment/transition/discharge reports.
- Complete
internal and external referrals; funding application forms on behalf of
families

The employee will comply with the duties assigned to Workers as per Section 28 of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Board Certified Behavior
Analyst (BCBA) certification
- Master’s Degree in behavior
analysis, psychology, education or a related field
- Minimum three (3) years’
experience working with children and youth with neurodiverse conditions (e.g. autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, etc.)
- Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in an inter-disciplinary team
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective
engagement with clinicians, clients, families, administrators and system
partners
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently, with excellent follow through
- Expertise in professional judgment and decision making
- Excellent collaboration and consultation skills required
- Bilingualism considered an asset
Other:
- Access to reliable transportation and possession of a driver’s license valid
for the province of Ontario is required
- A
current criminal reference check for vulnerable populations
- CPR
certification
- Evidence
of non-violent crisis intervention training
