Behaviour Consultation Program

Behaviour Consultation Program

Behaviour Consultation – Overview

The behaviour consultant at Niagara Children’s Centre works to enhance child and family participation and quality of life by providing support to clinicians and families for managing behaviour concerns of children with identified needs. Methods of support include assessment, consultation and education.

Behaviour consultation services at Niagara Children’s Centre are primarily consultative and involve providing:

  • Expertise and support to frontline clinical service providers
  • Brief individual intervention with children and families
  • Group intervention

In addition to consultative services, the behaviour consultant offers a variety of educational workshops covering topics related to emotional regulation, toileting, and more. Check out our calendar of workshops and events for upcoming offerings.

Eligibility and Referrals

Consultation services are available by referral from a Niagara Children’s Centre Centre therapist only and are limited to families of toddlers and preschool-aged children currently receiving core Centre services of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology.

Educational workshops are available to families of children/youth of any age who are waiting for or receiving any Niagara Children’s Centre services.

If you have concerns regarding your child’s ability to participate in their therapy or reach their therapy goals due to behaviour needs, please discuss those concerns with your therapist.
