Ways to Give

Help Kids Shine

There are so many ways to support Niagara Children’s Centre. Make a donation online today or choose any of the gift options below and help kids shine right here in Niagara.

Tribute Gift

A tribute gift is a meaningful way to honour someone special. Tribute gifts are typically made to celebrate and/or thank someone.

Some ideas for tribute gifts include:

  • Celebrate a birthday, anniversary, promotion, wedding, graduation, birth, mother’s or father’s day, Canada Day, retirement or any other special occasion
  • Thank you to a teacher/mentor
  • Thank a staff member
  • Honour a relative, loved one or colleague
  • Say thank you or send get well wishes
  • Support Niagara Children’s Centre by requesting that your wedding or birthday celebrants make gifts in your honour!

However you decide to contribute, Niagara Children’s Centre will send acknowledgement of your gift with a personal message from you to the person you are honouring.

Memorial Gift

A memorial donation is a meaningful way to remember a loved one and to continue their legacy of support to Niagara Children’s Centre. By making a memorial donation to Niagara Children’s Centre in lieu of flowers, friends and family can pay their respects and honour their loved one by supporting people in need in the community.

Niagara Children’s Centre will send a personal letter of thanks for all donations received and, when contact information is provided, we will send acknowledgement of all gifts to the next of kin. Please be assured that we will not disclose the amount of any individual donation.

Monthly Giving

Monthly giving is the best way to support Niagara Children’s Centre as it provides a consistent and predictable source of funds that allows the Centre to plan strategically and provide support where it is needed most.

If you sign up to become a monthly donor, you are making an incredible commitment that will benefit children and youth now and in the future. Monthly donations are processed on the 1st or 15th of each month and tax receipts are issued annually.

Legacy Giving

You can leave a legacy of care for future generations through a gift in your will or estate plans. Your Legacy Gift will ensure that Niagara Children’s Centre continues to be on the leading edge of therapy and support for children with special needs.

To find out more about our Legacy Giving program, please contact Marla Smith, director of development at 905-688-1890 ext. 106 or at marla.smith@niagarachildrenscentre.com

Gift of Securities

Your gift of securities entitles you to a donation receipt for the full market value (resale) of your contribution. Your gift will result in a non-refundable tax credit that will reduce your income taxes. You can use it in the year of your gift or carry it forward for up to five additional years. You pay no capital gains tax on the appreciated value (increased price) of your securities. Donating securities directly to Niagara Children’s Centre avoids the tax on capital gains, maximizes the return on your investment and protects the tax credits for use against other taxable income.

The chart below shows the tax advantage when you donate shares to Niagara Children’s Centre instead of selling them and donating the proceeds. This calculation assumes a tax rate of 50%.
