Employee-Giving Program

Demonstrate your social responsibility to your employees by offering an easy and effective way to support Niagara Children’s Centre through an employee-giving program.

Some opportunities your employees may have to support include:

  • Offering payroll deduction where employees can choose to have an amount deducted from each pay
  • Donating to Niagara Children’s Centre through a United Way workplace campaign or through a Benevity portal
  • Providing a matching gift opportunity where employee donations are matched by the company

Providing opportunities for your employees to support Niagara Children’s Centre creates a positive, community-minded workplace. Companies and employees alike can be proud of their commitment to giving back at work.

Memorial Gift

A memorial donation is a meaningful way to remember a loved one and to continue their legacy of support to Niagara Children’s Centre. By making a memorial donation to Niagara Children’s Centre in lieu of flowers, friends and family can pay their respects and honour their loved one by supporting people in need in the community.

Niagara Children’s Centre will send a personal letter of thanks for all donations received and, when contact information is provided, we will send acknowledgement of all gifts to the next of kin. Please be assured that we will not disclose the amount of any individual donation.

Securities Gift

Your gift of securities entitles you to a donation receipt for the full market value (resale) of your contribution. Your gift will result in a non-refundable tax credit that will reduce your income taxes. You can use it in the year of your gift or carry it forward for up to five additional years. You pay no capital gains tax on the appreciated value (increased price) of your securities. Donating securities directly to Niagara Children’s Centre avoids the tax on capital gains, maximizes the return on your investment and protects the tax credits for use against other taxable income.

The chart below shows the tax advantage when you donate shares to Niagara Children’s Centre instead of selling them and donating the proceeds. This calculation assumes a tax rate of 50%.

  • Donating a percentage of your annual sales
